Born and raised in California, Jesse Colón had no background in cattle—only brief glimpses of ranch life during visits to his father’s hometown in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico. In 2016, he moved to Jerez as a missionary pastor, with no plans of running cattle. But when it became clear that his father wouldn’t be able to return to the ranch due to health issues, Jesse stepped up, taking on the operation with no formal experience.
What could have been a disadvantage turned into an unexpected strength. Free from traditional mindsets, Jesse approached ranching differently from the start. His classroom became YouTube, and his curiosity led him to regenerative ranching methods that challenged the norms of his region. While many neighbors scoffed at his experiments—planting cactus, using cover crops, introducing new bulls—those same skeptics are now coming to him for advice. Without waiting for apologies, Jesse sees their questions as the highest compliment.
In just three years, he transitioned the ranch from relying on constant outside financial support to standing on its own, even becoming profitable. Today, Jesse breeds registered Angus cattle, both black and red, and also maintains a growing herd of Mashona cattle, known for their natural adaptability and efficiency. He serves on the board of the Angus Association in Mexico and documents his journey through a growing YouTube channel, showcasing practical regenerative techniques for others to learn alongside him.
Jesse’s commitment to doing things right, not just doing things the way they’ve always been done, makes him a natural fit for Bos Sires. After getting burned early by a show bull that didn’t live up to the hype, he made it his mission to breed and represent cattle that could thrive in the real world, not just win ribbons. With deepening ties to the Angus and regenerative ranching communities across Mexico, Jesse is ready to help bring Bos Sires genetics to producers who are tired of chasing false promises—and ready to build herds that work as hard as they do.
When he’s not working cattle or sharing ranching insights online, Jesse stays focused on building bridges between tradition and innovation—showing that sometimes, the best way forward comes from having the courage to question everything you thought you knew.
