José Luis Garcia Cantillano was born and raised in the Nicaraguan countryside, where his life was shaped by a deep connection to the land and animals from an early age. This rural upbringing gave him a natural affinity for livestock and agriculture, which later evolved into a professional passion. As he began his career, J. Luis had the opportunity to advise small-scale cattle producers—a role that not only expanded his technical knowledge but also sparked the beginning of his own cattle project.

He has been actively involved in the cattle industry since 2010, working closely with producers across the country. In 2014, he began offering his services as a private consultant, becoming the first professional in Nicaragua to advocate for Voisin Rational Grazing (VRG). While others had touched on similar methods in the past, it was J. Luis who truly brought the practice to life and gave it a voice within the national cattle sector.

Driven by a commitment to create meaningful change, J. Luis has always seen his work as more than just a profession—it’s a mission. He takes pride in showing producers that there’s a better, more sustainable way to raise cattle, one that not only improves productivity but also enhances the well-being of the people and communities behind the operations.

Among his accomplishments, J. Luis is especially proud of establishing a growing network of regenerative cattle ranchers in Nicaragua. What began as an idea has now become a thriving community of like-minded producers dedicated to sustainability, soil health, and long-term resilience.

Since 2015, J. Luis has continued to work as a consultant and educator, and today he is recognized as a leading voice in regenerative agriculture in his country. Alongside his consulting work, he manages his own growing cattle operation. As a representative of Bos Sires, he is focused on connecting producers with genetics that are fertile, functional, and adapted to tropical environments—bringing sustainable solutions to the forefront of cattle production in Nicaragua.
