Rob Havard brings a rare combination of ecological expertise and generational ranching experience to the Bos Sires team. Based in Worcestershire and Shropshire, England, Rob is a sixth-generation cattleman and professional ecologist managing Phepson Angus, a forage-only, regenerative Angus program spread across more than 1,700 acres of native grassland. His cattle are never fed grain, are wintered outdoors, and are managed through holistic planned grazing systems that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and long-term profitability. Rob has spent years proving that truly functional cattle don’t need props they just need the right genetics and the right environment.
Rob is a leading voice in the regenerative grazing movement across the UK and beyond. He’s a Nuffield Scholar, a speaker at national and international conferences, and a respected educator in both grazing management and low-input cattle selection. His bulls and semen have reached breeders in multiple countries, but Rob’s true strength lies in helping others match genetics to their goals whether that’s rebuilding degraded land, increasing conception rates, or producing profitable cattle on forage alone.
At Phepson Angus, Rob’s selection pressure is simple but strict: cows must calve within a 60-day window, maintain condition on forage, and rebreed without help. That no-nonsense mindset is exactly what he brings to Bos Sires. As a Representative, Rob works with producers across the UK and Europe who are ready to stop chasing growth curves and start building cow herds that actually last. He helps ranchers think critically about fertility, maternal efficiency, grazing compatibility, and long-term sustainability not just next year’s weaning weight.
Rob doesn’t sell gimmicks or lean on show-ring slogans. He brings practical insight, hands-on support, and a track record of building cattle that work for the land, not against it. Whether you’re starting from scratch or overhauling a struggling herd, Rob is a trusted guide who knows what it takes to build functional, adaptive, low-input cows from the ground up.
